Components for Reusable Filters
Flo King reusable filter cartridges consist of several components that can be purchased individually or together.

Reusable Filter Blankets
Flo King filter blankets are available in lengths of 4, 6, 10, 15 and 20" (10, 15, 25, 38 and 50 cm). The blankets are wrapped around the cartridge core several times. For example, the 15"-long blanket is 42" wide and wraps around the cartridge core seven times. Reusable filters generally are a money-saver when compared with their disposable counterparts. But management must be willing to dedicate labor, space, and a little time for cleaning. As a rule, allow a couple minutes and a gallon of water to clean and reassemble a 20"-long cartridge.

Reassembly of Cartridge
After cleaning the filter blanket, the operator re-rolls it around the cartridge core. There are two types of cores from which to choose--the Standard Magnum Core (shown at far left) and the Permacore.
The Standard Magnum Core is used with all 4- and 6"-long reusable filters. It is also available in lengths of 10, 15 and 20". These longer lengths are usually satisfactory for use in out-of-tank filter chambers.
The Permacore element is usually preferred for Flo King in-tank applications where the cartridge length is 10, 15 or 20". The Permacore makes mounting easy because the head fits snugly into the Flo King pump.

Loading Slats
These clear, plastic, shoehorn-like devices are used after the filter blanket has been rolled around the cartridge core. The Loading Slats assist the operator in re-installing the flexible plastic Web over and around the filter cartridge. Procedure: Place one Loading Slat on blanket and lift cartridge assembly. Place second Loading Slat on opposite side. Allow both slats to extend approximately 2" past one end of cartridge. Grasp assembly about 4" (10 cm) from end that has extended Loading Slats. Slip Web over slats. Stand cartridge assembly on flat surface in upright position. Using both hands, pull Loading Slats and Web down until flush with bottom of cartridge assembly. Remove Loading Slats. The cartridge is now ready for use!

Webs
The purpose of the flexible plastic Web is to hold the filter assembly together. Webs are available in a pack of six.

Filter Plug
Regardless of which filter cartridge is selected, a Filter Plug is required for Flo King in-tank filtration. The plug is installed at the bottom of the cartridge. Two common plug styles are shown above.
Failure to use plug with filter cartridge will negate filtration and also expose the impeller to possible damage from foreign objects that may be in solution.
