Carbon Cartridge
Flo King High-Flow Carbon Cartridges are the natural choice for plating and related solutions. They are made of 100% polypropylene, with absolutely no materials of construction that can deteriorate in solution. They also contain Flo King Pelletized Carbon--a clean, highly adsorbent product whose shape enables more efficient loading than granular carbon allows.
    Carbon C
artridge Size: Outside Diameter, 2-1/2" (6.35 cm); hole diameter, 1" (2.5 cm); lengths, 4, 6, 10, 15, 20 & 30" (10, 15, 25, 38, 50 & 75 cm)

Carbon Bag
For larger tanks or where organic contamination is severe, Flo King offers the carbon bag for in-tank treatment. The bags come in three lengths (10, 15 and 20"; 25, 38 and 50 cm) with the capacity to hold 5, 7.5, and 10 lb (2.3, 3.5 and 4.5 kg) of pelletized carbon. Use the standard disposable bag for one-time treatment; or, for repeated use, select the Permacore reusable bag, which can be emptied, cleaned, refilled with carbon and reused many times.

Carbon/Resin Canister
This reusable device is made of a porous polypropylene tube with internal filter cartridge (cutaway photo shown at left). Add pelletized carbon to capture organic impurities or even  ion-exchange resin to remove metallic contaminants. Sturdy tube construction provides long-term durability and facilitates refills. Available in lengths of 6, 10, 15 and 20" and in 4-1/2" and 7" diameter (11.5 and 18 cm). Carbon capacity ranges from 1 to 9 lb (0.45 to 9 kg).

 In-Tank Treatment
Just attach a carbon cartridge, bag or canister to the bottom of a Flo King pump and you are ready for in-tank carbon treatment. This is accomplished simply and easily, without tools. Just remove the filter cartridge and insert in its place the preferred carbon accessory. Then tighten the thumbscrews and you are ready to treat.

How Often?
Bright nickel and acid copper plating typically require frequent carbon treatment. But other solutions may need only occasional treatment.
Most platers conduct Hull Cell tests to detect the onset of plating problems, such as loss of  deposit brightness. At the first sign of trouble, they implement carbon treatment.
A good preventive maintenance schedule can usually be established based on these Hull Cell test results. Some platers have learned from experience that they need to carbon treat once a week or once a month, for example.
